Teacher Trainings

Deepen Your Practice

Overview
The Center for Yoga has developed a unique perspective on teacher training that stands on the shoulders of tradition. First, deepen your practice. Then, refine your practice. Finally, work with a teacher to develop the skills to share your love of yoga with others. From the intimate wisdom born through practice good teachers are born. Thinking of becoming a yoga teacher? The first two modules can be taken independently – in any order – and are required for registration in Module 3. Module 3 is also available to those who have previously graduated from a 200 training or with the consent of the instructors. Complete all three courses and earn eligibility for registration through Yoga Alliance.

Module 1: Deepen Your Practice (51 hours)November 3 – December 10, 2023 (no class on weekend of Nov. 25)
Module 2: Refine Your Practice (51 hours): Dates TBD (our last one is being held from September 15 to October 15, 2023)
Module 3: Teacher Training Immersion (100 hours): January 9 – March 24, 2024
Module 1: Deepen Your Practice (51 Hours)

DATES: November 3 - December 10, 2023 (no class on weekend of Nov. 25)

o  Fun, challenging, insightful.
o   Deep dive to raise the level of your asanas.
o   Fine tune your practice to effectively engage each part of your body, breath, and heart.
o   Explore Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras and discuss “being and becoming” in a loving community.

In most classes we learn the shape of poses. We hear instructions about how to improve the pose, but we are so busy either keeping up, chasing the stretch, or looking for variations that we rarely apply what the instructor is asking of us. Over these weekends Joe and Ashley will help you understand how to better access mobility in your hips, stability in your back and core, safe and effective movement in your shoulders and neck, and basically, how to deepen your practice.

Play with more asanas, practice going beyond the familiar, invite meditation into your day. Go deeper.

Module 2: Refine Your Practice (51 Hours)

DATES: TBD (same schedule as first module)

Strength, stability, mobility, stamina, and relaxation are all benefits of good practice. We experience these on physical and mental levels. This module builds upon the physical asanas with an overlay of the subtle body chakra system. An introduction to functional anatomy with Olivia Barry creates the foundation for Jeanne and Ashley to weave into the asana practice an experience of the effect of the chakras.

There are many ways to refine your practice so that you build strength and stamina in a relaxed way, you increase your flexibility while learning mindfulness, and conscious relaxation becomes a regular part of every moment. Take this module to enhance the breadth of asana practice, for yoga really is how we live off the mat!
